April has been a busy month for races. As a club we had a great showing for the Reno 5000, as well as the Rattlesnake trail run and the Relay for Life 5K. There are still more races coming up check out the upcoming races tab on this webpage.
During this last school year, Brandolyn and the Fernley workout group have been doing an after school running program for elementary kids. A grant was written and we partnered with Cotton Wood Elementary to put on the program. This last week there was a mini track meet put on for all of the kids. From pre kindergarteners to their parents we ran the 100, 400, 800, 1600 and a 5k. The mood was fun and exciting for all who took part despite the windy conditions. Trevin Goodrick, Marianne Woller, Jerry Ganter and Katie Owens volunteered to run with some of the kids in the 5K distance. They loved their volunteer runners and we appreciate them running with the kids. The teachers and our very own Brandolyn did a great job! The intent is to put this program on again next year and watch it grow.
SUPPORTING THE CLUB
We have a new batch of club shirts on hand. They are Sport Tec shirts in both male and female cuts. The cost is $20.00 a shirt. If you would like a new shirt contact Brandolyn, Traci, Liz or I and we will get it to you.
From its conception the club has not and has no intention of charging dues. We started with the core workouts and a philosophy that we would do workouts in the park and if people wanted to join us, the more the better. Sharing your knowledge, successes and struggles with the group, in support of one another is what this network is about. That has grown into the Facebook page, our web page, group runs and even our own event.
Starting May 2nd Liz, Traci and I will be bringing back core workouts. At least one of us will be at Laura Mills Park at 6:00PM to lead a 20-45 min workout on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please come and join us.
In Fernley Brandolyn and crew will be working out on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well at 7:00AM in the Autumn Winds Park.
The only thing we ask is that you fill out a waiver (available on the Clockwork web page) and bring it to the first workout you attend.
From time to time, we change times and/or locations, but it is posted on the web page for quick reference.
To kick off the spring season we are having our spring social on May 18th at Pioneer Park. The plan is to take off on our normal group run at 7:00 AM and meet back at the park by 8:30 AM to have breakfast burritos, fruit and drinks. If you are going to attend please just send a reply through this email so I know how much to bring.
UP AND COMING
The end of May will take many of us off on the 178 mile run around Lake Tahoe.
Please keep us updated on races that you participate in and send photos so we can add them to the clubs webpage. We love to see how everyone is doing and share results and photos as you send them in.
